چکیده
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary fructooligosaccharides (FOS) on growth, survival rate, digestive enzyms activity, and expression intestinal barrier function genes in tropical gar (Atractosteus tropicus) larvae. A total 960 larvae (0.030 ± 0.006 g) were fed three diets supplemented with increasing FOS concentrations (2.5, 5, 7.5 g kg?1) a control diet for 15 days. Results revealed that kg?1 supplementation improved weight gain, specific growth rate (p < 0.05). Furthermore, 5 increased alkaline protease amylase activities induced an upregulation claudin-17 gene Meanwhile, inclusion mucin 2 (muc-2), tight junction zo-2 claudin-3 In addition, 2.5, promoted downregulation claudin-15 At same time, did not increase pro-inflammatory cytokine il-8 expression. We can conclude improves performance, capacity, could contribute reinforcement Tropical

Use of Potato Starch in Diets of Tropical Gar (Atractosteus tropicus, Gill 1863) Larvae
Tropical gar, Atractosteus tropicus, is a carnivorous fish species from Southern México with high value and acceptance in local markets. Therefore, the present study aims to spare proteins in diets for larviculture of this species. An experiment was performed using three different experimental diets with increasing carbohydrate levels based on potato starch (S) and decreasing protein content (P...

A total of 8 helminth species were recorded in an examination of 43 tropical gar, Atractosteus tropicus Gill, collected at the Pantanos de Centla Biosphere Reserve, Tabasco, Mexico. The parasite species included 1 adult trematode, 3 metacercariae, 1 cestode, 1 adult nematode, and 2 nematode larvae. Six of these 8 species were rare, with low prevalence (< 17%) and abundance (< 1.0 helminths per ...

Biomarkers are a widely applied approach in environmental studies. Analyses of cholinesterase (ChE), glutathione S-transferase (GST) and lipid peroxidation (LPO) are biomarkers that can provide information regarding early effects of pollutants at different biochemical levels on an organism. The aim of this study was to evaluate the biomarker approach on a Costa Rican native and relevant species...
